Behavioral Health Rehabilitation Services |
Wordsworth's Behavioral Health Rehabilitation Services (BHRS) recognizes its place and responsibility in the continuum of care to children and their families. BHRS provides for the delivery of mental health services to children in their own homes, schools and community locations and includes assessment, evaluation, treatment planning and a team approach to treatment. BHRS utilizes a variety of modalities, techniques and treatment interventions including behavior modification, family therapy, and system support.
The first step in the process of accessing services from Wordsworth is a comprehensive biopsychosocial evaluation by a licensed psychologist, who will determine, based on medical necessity criteria, the most appropriate level of care to meet each child's unique needs and situation. Recommendations made in the evaluation will include goals and objectives that will be agreed upon by the treatment team and the family, as well as all others who are involved and important in the child's life. A comprehensive treatment plan will describe the specific treatment interventions that will be implemented so that the child can progress to eventual attainment of the therapeutic goals. |
| The Treatment Team |
| |
The BHRS treatment program is multi-tiered and consists of trained professionals, each of whom plays a different role in the total team approach. The psychologist evaluates the child's needs and makes recommendations for treatment and provides consultation to the team during the course of the treatment period. Case Coordinators ensure that the client moves successfully through the treatment process by monitoring all necessary documentation and regulatory requirements, as well as being the link between the client's family and the program. The Behavior Specialist Consultant (BSC) is responsible for the development of the behavioral treatment plan which is developed in detail after observation and assessment of the child in the home, school and community. The BSC collaborates continuously with the parent/caregiver, school staff and others, including the evaluating psychologist, to insure that the plan is being successfully implemented. The Therapeutic Staff Support (TSS) is the treatment team member who actually implements the interventions and behavior modification techniques with the child in the home, school, or community setting. A Mobile Therapist (MT) works with the child individually in a therapeutic relationship to deal with issues such as loss, trauma, fear and anger. The MT may also provide family therapy. |
"Wordsworth utilizes a continual quality assurance approach to meet challenges and is committed to serving children and families in a least restrictive, culturally competent way that draws on strengths and positive elements of the child's life....."
| Family Involvement |
An important component of BHRS is the work done by the family/caregivers in the treatment process. The family is, in every sense of the word, part of the treatment team. The family will be given the tools that will help them to integrate treatment techniques in the home. Commitment, consistency and continuity are cornerstone concepts of the BHRS program. |
