Wordsworth Students joined the Humane Society at Temple University to hear testimony on a proposed Ivory Ban Bill. Representatives Madeleine Dean and Tarah Tohill have introduced bi-partisan legislation that will prohibit ivory and rhinoceros horn importation to Pennsylvania in addition to selling, purchasing bartering and possession with the intent to sale. Students, including those from Wordsworth, and advocates attended the public hearing where they were able to witness democracy in action as they supported a bill that protects elephants and rhinos, and calls for an “Ivory Free PA.” Kristen Tullo of the Humane Society asked our kids why protecting elephants is important and you can see their answers in her video here. We are so proud that our students are standing up for what’s right and trying to make a difference! You can learn more about the PA Ivory Ban HERE.
